Smartphone games have yet to match the popularity of famous Nintendo titles, but gamers are still choosing to buy smartphones over the latest handhelds from Nintendo like the 3DS.

This latest handheld from Nintendo has performed poorly following its introduction, a performance which is caused by the continuing popularity of the smartphone and a lack of quality new games. Nintendo has already been forced to cut prices on the 3DS system by $80 after only 6 months on the market. This is a worrying sign because it is the earliest that Nintendo has ever had to make significant price cuts.
